Tasting Notes: Deep garnet with magenta edge, brilliant; mint, thyme and other spices at first, departing to leave predominantly blueberry, with notes of other black fruit and hints of leather; heavy body, firm, food-friendly acidity, intense palate of blackberry, cherry and Italian prune, finishes with candied fruit and black tea. Winemaker Comments: The cool 2008 vintage made for a very late harvest at the normally ultra-hot, early harvest Red Mountain growing site. The long hang-time, and the ancient vines themselves, resulted in a complex, powerful and age-worthy wine. Label Art: Cheryl King, Seattle, WA |
