Winemaker Comments:

There is white wine, there is red wine, and then there is Pinot Noir. The near-perfect weather of the 2012 vintage in the northern Willamette Valley tempted ANIMALE to return to Pinot Noir for the first time since 2007. The grapes, expertly grown on the spectacular south- and west-facing slopes of the Tonnelier Vineyard, achieved that elusive balance amongst ripeness, acid, and phenolics that makes for a magical food-pairing experience when young, and assures a long life ahead in the cellar.

  • " Animale 2012 Pinot Noir Yamhill-Carlton AVA - Matt Gubitosa has retired from his day job and is now working full time at growing his Seattle-based micro winery in the Ballard neighborhood. He sources his Pinot Noir from a friend's vineyard in Oregon's Yamhill-Carlton AVA. The wine is complex with strawberry, spicy cherry candy, fennel and barrel toast on the nose, and a salmon-friendly palate of red cherry and baking spice."
