This low-profile Bordeaux varietal makes a powerful and intriguing wine when grown in Washington: dark red in color, concentrated and full-bodied; perfume-like aromas of raspberry with exotic hints of sumac, menthol and citrus fruit; flavors of cassis and plums with hints of wet stone; highly age-worthy or for pairing now with flavorful cuisine.
