Tasting Notes:

A full-bodied wine, of medium purple-garnet color; featuring aromas of dried blueberries with hints of baking spice, pimento, incense, and sassafras; flavors of cherries, blueberries, and plums, with nuanced hints of eucalyptus, licorice, anise, and mint tea. The finish is long and powerful, with balanced acidity and firm tannins; enjoyable now, but will age gracefully for years to come.

  • Sip Northwest (Mark Stock), March 2, 2018 - Featured Wine
  • "This wine stresses Cab Franc's signature finesse as it walks lightly across the palate. The pronounced cherry and red fruit flavors are as bright and soothing as a distant neon vacancy sign, chased by a hint of spice."

  • Wine Enthusiast (Sean Sullivan), February 2018 - Recommended Wine, Rating: 88 Points
  • "This wine's aromas are light but intriguing, with peat, cigar box, herb, flower and game notes. Its cherry and raspberry flavors are fresh and transparent, showing little apparent new oak influence. Put it on the dinner table to see it at its best."

  • Wines Northwest (Chuck Hill), September 19, 2017 - Featured Wine of the Week
  • Animale 2014 Cabernet Franc Yakima Valley AVA - "Matt Gubitosa's tiny winery in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle creates some of the most intense and varietally-true wines in Washington. This dedicated winemaker selects the fruit at intense ripeness and points his production at making inky, fruity classics. Not oaky at all, the wine reveals ripe plum, cassis, anise and dark cherry to accompany your favorite meats from the grill."
